If you are a coffee roaster looking for some special Nicaraguan coffee, look no further.
Growing coffee in Matagalpa is remarkable; for this specific coffee, the washing process ensures that the beans have a clean and refined flavour that roasters can build upon. Perdido takes pride in sustainable farming practices, this is becoming increasingly important to coffee drinkers who care about their products' environmental and social impact.
The unique flavour profile of coffee from this region offers roasters an opportunity to create genuinely distinct blends and single-origin offerings that stand out from the crowd.
Ingrained respect for Mother Nature is one of Perdido's fundamental values.
At both Fincas, they won't cut down their exotic hardwood trees. Instead, the branches are trimmed to allow the much-needed sunshine and the trees to continue to grow. They make most of their organic pesticides and herbicides or use organic supplementation. Their fertilizers are made from a combination of organic byproducts, including the remains of their processed coffee cherries.
The Perdido Coffee company was founded by a Canadian entrepreneur looking for a change and an adventure. He travelled to Nicaragua to explore the geography and fell in love with the people, the culture, and, most importantly, the coffee.
After that first sip, he decided to create what is today the world-class Perdido Coffee.
Their family values are not driven by financial gain but by how they can make this world a better place to live. For them, it starts with love and hard work turned into one Perdido cup at a time.
This Finca is a case study for high-quality coffees that are produced using sustainable practices.
